Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf (approx. 14-16 oz) Brioche or Challah bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 8 large eggs
- 1 cup pure maple syrup (plus extra for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray to ensure nothing sticks. Spread the cubed brioche bread evenly across the bottom of the dish.
- In a medium mixing bowl, crack the 8 eggs and whisk them vigorously until the yolks and whites are fully combined. Pour in the 1 cup of maple syrup and whisk again until the mixture is smooth. Carefully pour this mixture over the bread cubes in the baking dish. Use a spatula or your hands to gently press the bread down, ensuring every single cube is coated in the egg and syrup mixture.
- Place the dish in the center rack of the oven. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. You will know it is done when the top is golden brown and slightly crisp, and the center is set but still has a slight bounce. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Scoop generous portions onto plates. Drizzle with a little extra maple syrup for that classic finish. You can serve this as is or alongside some fresh fruit for a bright contrast to the rich, sweet bread.
- Cook Time: 45 minutes
