Air Fryer Apple Pie Dessert Crispy Easy Fast Healthy

Air Fryer Apple Pie Dessert Crispy Easy Fast Healthy

  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced into small cubes
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crust (or puff pastry for extra layers)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and nutmeg. Stir the mixture thoroughly until every piece of apple is evenly coated in the spices. On a lightly floured surface, unroll your pie crust and use a circular cutter or a small bowl to cut out four to six circles. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edge.
  2. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Use a fork to crimp the edges tightly, ensuring no filling leaks out. Lightly beat the egg and brush a thin layer over the top of each hand pie, then sprinkle with a pinch of turbinado sugar. Arrange the pies in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch. Set the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pastry is deeply golden and crispy.
  3. Carefully remove the pies from the basket using a spatula and place them on a wire rack to cool for 2 to 3 minutes. This resting period allows the filling to set and the crust to finish crisping up. Serve the pies warm on a small dessert plate. For an extra treat, pair them with a dollop of Greek yogurt or a small scoop of low-calorie vanilla bean ice cream.
