Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs chicken wings (flats and drumettes separated)
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil (or olive oil)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder (aluminum-free for best flavor)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: Your favorite buffalo or BBQ sauce for tossing
Instructions
- Start by patting the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture is the secret to achieving maximum crispiness. Place the dried wings in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with oil and toss to coat. In a small ramekin, mix the baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the wings and toss thoroughly until every wing is evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes. Arrange the wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Cook for 12 minutes, then open the basket and use tongs to flip each wing. Cook for another 10 to 13 minutes, or until the skin is golden brown and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. For extra crispy skin, you can add an additional 2 minutes at the end.
- Remove the wings from the air fryer and let them rest for 2 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute. If you prefer saucy wings, transfer them to a clean bowl and toss with your favorite sauce while they are still hot. Serve immediately with a side of celery sticks, carrot sticks, and a dip like ranch or blue cheese dressing.
