Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large Granny Smith apples (peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch strips)
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Non-stick avocado oil spray
- Optional: Caramel sauce or chocolate ganache for dipping
Instructions
- Start by peeling your apples and slicing them into uniform strips, roughly the size of standard French fries. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch and half of the cinnamon. Toss the apple strips in the cornstarch mixture until every piece is thoroughly coated. This starch layer is the secret to achieving that “crispy” and “golden” texture that rivals deep-fried snacks.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with avocado oil. Place the coated apple strips in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Spray the tops of the fries lightly with oil. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time. The fries are done when they appear golden brown and feel firm to the touch.
- While the fries are still hot, whisk together the remaining cinnamon and the granulated sugar in a small bowl. Remove the fries from the air fryer and immediately toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. The residual heat will help the sugar adhere to the crispy exterior. Serve them immediately while they are warm, ideally with a side of caramel or vanilla yogurt for dipping.
- Cook Time: 18 minutes
