Ingredients
Scale
- 2 fresh salmon fillets (6 oz each), skin-on
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
- Lemon wedges for serving
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by removing the salmon fillets from the refrigerator about 15 minutes before cooking to take the chill off. Use a paper towel to pat the salmon completely dry on all sides; this is the secret to getting that ultra-crispy exterior. In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Brush the salmon fillets lightly with olive oil, then rub the spice mixture evenly over the flesh side of the fish.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes. Place the seasoned salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching so the air can circulate freely. For a standard 1-inch thick fillet, air fry for 8 to 10 minutes. You do not need to flip the salmon. The high heat will crisp the skin and caramelize the spices on top simultaneously.
- Carefully remove the salmon from the basket using a spatula. Let the fish rest for 2 minutes; this allows the juices to redistribute for a moister bite. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges. The acidity of the lemon cuts through the richness of the fish perfectly.
