Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large Russet potatoes (scrubbed and cleaned)
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
- Cooking spray (olive oil or avocado oil based)
Instructions
- Start by slicing your potatoes into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick. For the best results, soak the potato sticks in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes. This process removes excess starch, which is the secret to achieving maximum crispiness. After soaking, drain the water and pat the potatoes completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Moisture is the enemy of a golden crunch, so ensure they are bone-dry before moving to the next step.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, toss the dried potato sticks with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until every piece is evenly coated. Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket, as air needs to circulate around each fry to make it crispy. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, remove the basket and give it a vigorous shake to redistribute the fries for even browning.
- Once the fries are a beautiful golden brown and feel firm to the touch, remove them from the air fryer. Transfer them to a serving platter immediately while they are hot. Sprinkle with a little extra sea salt and fresh parsley if desired. Serve these crispy delights alongside your favorite healthy dipping sauce, such as a Greek yogurt-based garlic dip or a low-sugar organic ketchup.
- Cook Time: 35 minutes
