Air Fryer Pretzel Bites Snack Crispy Easy Fast Healthy

Air Fryer Pretzel Bites Snack Crispy Easy Fast Healthy

  • Total Time: 21 minutes
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb refrigerated pizza dough or homemade pretzel dough
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • Coarse sea salt or pretzel salt
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Start by bringing the 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium pot. Once boiling, carefully whisk in the baking soda—it will bubble up, so do it slowly. While the water heats, roll out your dough on a lightly floured surface and cut it into long ropes. Snip the ropes into 1-inch bite-sized pieces using a knife or kitchen shears. Drop the dough bites into the boiling soda bath for about 30 seconds. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain them on a wire rack or parchment paper.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C). Lightly grease the air fryer basket or use a perforated parchment liner. Place the pretzel bites in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch so the air can circulate freely. Brush the tops with the beaten egg wash and sprinkle generously with coarse salt. Slide the basket in and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the pretzels reach a deep golden-brown color.
  3. Carefully remove the hot pretzel bites from the air fryer. If you want a richer flavor, brush them immediately with a little bit of melted butter while they are still steaming. Transfer them to a serving platter or a bowl. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauces like spicy brown mustard, warm cheese sauce, or even a sweet honey mustard dip.
