Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs Chicken wings (split into flats and drums)
- 1 tbsp Olive oil or Avocado oil spray
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch (the secret to extra crispiness)
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: Your favorite buffalo or BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Start by patting your chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture is the most important step for achieving a crispy texture. In a large bowl, toss the dry wings with olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Ensure every wing is evenly coated with the spice mixture. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes to ensure a hot cooking environment right from the start.
- Place the seasoned wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; air needs to circulate around each piece to make them golden and perfect. Cook at 400°F for 20 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time (around the 10-minute mark), pull the basket out and give it a good shake or use tongs to flip the wings. This ensures even browning on all sides and prevents sticking. Continue cooking until the skin is blistered and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Once the wings are finished, remove them from the air fryer and let them rest for 2 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and the skin to crisp up even further. If you prefer saucy wings, toss them in a bowl with your sauce of choice while they are still hot. Serve immediately with celery sticks, carrots, and a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing. For a snack-style presentation, serve them on a large platter for everyone to share.
