Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans (21 oz each) Cherry Pie Filling
- 1 box (15.25 oz) White Cake Mix
- 1 container (16 oz) Vanilla or Cream Cheese Frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Take a 9×13-inch baking dish and lightly grease it with non-stick cooking spray. Open your two cans of cherry pie filling and pour them directly into the bottom of the pan. Use a spatula to spread the cherries into an even layer, ensuring they cover the entire bottom surface.
- Sprinkle the dry white cake mix evenly over the top of the cherry filling. Do not stir the layers! You want the cake mix to sit right on top. Now, take your frosting container and remove the foil seal. Microwave the frosting for about 30 seconds until it reaches a liquid, pourable consistency. Drizzle the melted frosting over the cake mix as evenly as possible. The moisture from the frosting and the fruit will hydrate the cake mix as it bakes. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it sit for at least 10 to 15 minutes before serving. This resting period allows the juices to thicken slightly so it isn’t too runny. Scoop warm portions into bowls or onto plates. For an extra festive touch, you can add red and green sprinkles or a dollop of whipped cream on top. Serve it warm to your guests and watch it disappear!
