Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (do not use instant oats)
- 2/3 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, or soy)
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (or vegan alternative)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Step 1: Combine the Base Ingredients – In a wide-mouth mason jar or a medium-sized bowl, add the rolled oats, chia seeds, and a pinch of salt. Pour in your milk of choice, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Use a spoon to stir the mixture thoroughly, ensuring all the oats are submerged and the chia seeds are evenly distributed to prevent clumping.
- Step 2: Fold in the Strawberries – Gently fold in about two-thirds of your sliced strawberries. If you like a more uniform flavor, you can lightly mash a few strawberries with a fork before stirring them in to release their natural juices into the oat mixture. Save the remaining strawberry slices to place on top for a beautiful presentation.
- Step 3: Chill and Serve – Secure the lid on your jar or cover your bowl with plastic wrap. Place the container in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, though overnight is best for the creamiest results. In the morning, give the oats a quick stir. If the mixture is too thick, splash in a little extra milk. Top with your remaining strawberries and enjoy straight from the jar!
