Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs Lean Ground Turkey or Beef (90/10 or 93/7)
- 2 cans (15 oz each) Kidney Beans, undrained
- 2 cans (15 oz each) Black Beans, undrained
- 1 bag (12 oz) Frozen Seasoning Blend (onions, celery, peppers, and parsley)
- 2 cans (14.5 oz each) Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies
- 1 can (6 oz) Tomato Paste
- 2 packets Chili Seasoning Mix (or 6 tablespoons bulk seasoning)
- 1 cup Water or Beef Broth
- Optional: Shredded cheese, sour cream, or green onions for topping
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Place the raw ground meat directly into the bottom of a 6-quart or larger crockpot. Use a spoon to break it into smaller chunks. Pour the frozen seasoning blend, undrained beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste over the meat. Add the chili seasoning packets and the water or broth.
- Slow Cooking Process: Stir the ingredients briefly to distribute the spices. Cover the crockpot with the lid. Set the temperature to “Low” and cook for 6 to 8 hours. If you are in a hurry, you can set it to “High” for 3 to 4 hours. Halfway through the cooking time, stir the chili again to ensure the meat is fully broken up and incorporated into the sauce.
- Serving and Topping: Once the meat is fully cooked and the flavors have melded, give the chili one final stir. Taste and add salt or pepper if needed. Ladle the hot chili into bowls. Set out a “topping bar” with cheese, sour cream, and crackers so guests can customize their own bowls as they watch the game.
- Cook Time: 6 hours 5 minutes
