Overnight Oats Flavors Easy 5 Minute Breakfast Meal Prep

Overnight Oats Flavors Easy 5 Minute Breakfast Meal Prep

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (do not use instant or steel-cut)
  • 1/2 cup milk of your choice (dairy, almond, oat, or coconut milk)
  • 1/4 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt (adds creaminess and protein)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (essential for the pudding-like texture)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • A tiny pinch of sea salt (to enhance all the flavors)

Instructions

  1. Find a pint-sized mason jar or a small airtight container. Add the rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, sweetener, vanilla extract, and salt. Use a spoon to stir everything together vigorously. Make sure you scrape the bottom of the jar to ensure no dry oats or chia seeds are stuck in the corners. The mixture should look quite liquid at this stage, but do not worry—the oats and seeds will soak up that moisture overnight.
  2. This is where you get creative. If you want a specific flavor profile, add your “extras” now. For example, stir in a tablespoon of peanut butter for a nutty kick, or toss in a handful of fresh blueberries. If you prefer your fruit to stay firm, you can wait until the morning, but adding spices like cinnamon or cocoa powder now allows the flavors to bloom and permeate the entire jar while you sleep.
  3. Screw the lid onto your jar tightly. Place the container in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, though overnight (8 hours) is ideal for the best texture. During this time, the chia seeds expand and the oats soften, creating a thick, spoonable consistency. In the morning, give the oats one quick stir. If the mixture seems too thick, splash in an extra tablespoon of milk to loosen it up to your liking.
