Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of sea salt
- Fresh berries, sliced banana, or nuts for topping
Instructions
- Grab a wide-mouth mason jar or a medium-sized bowl. Add the rolled oats, chia seeds, protein powder, and a tiny pinch of salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together with a spoon to ensure the protein powder is evenly distributed and there are no large clumps.
- Pour in the Greek yogurt, milk of your choice, vanilla extract, and your sweetener. Stir the mixture vigorously. Ensure you scrape the bottom of the jar so that no dry oats remain tucked away in the corners. The mixture should look slightly liquidy, as the oats and chia seeds will soak up that moisture overnight.
- Tighten the lid on your jar or cover your bowl with plastic wrap. Place the container in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, though letting it sit overnight is best for the creamiest texture. This “cold cooking” process softens the oats and allows the chia seeds to expand.
- In the morning, remove the jar from the fridge and give it a quick stir. If the oats seem too thick, splash in an extra tablespoon of milk to loosen them up. Add your fresh toppings, such as blueberries, raspberries, or a drizzle of almond butter, right before eating to maintain their texture.
