Sheet Pan Cinnamon Roll French Toast With Cream Cheese Glaze

Sheet Pan Cinnamon Roll French Toast With Cream Cheese Glaze

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the French Toast:
  • 1 large loaf of Brioche or Challah bread, sliced into 1-inch thick pieces
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the Cinnamon Swirl:
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Generously grease a large, rimmed 13×18-inch sheet pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray. Ensuring the pan is well-coated prevents the sugar from sticking and helps create those coveted crispy edges.
  2. In a large shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, one teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until the mixture is completely smooth and the eggs are fully incorporated with no streaks remaining.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 5-10 seconds per side. You want the bread to be saturated but not falling apart. Arrange the soaked slices on the prepared sheet pan in a single layer. They can overlap slightly if needed to fit the whole loaf.
  4. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, brown sugar, and one tablespoon of cinnamon until it forms a thick paste. Drizzle this mixture over the arranged bread slices. Use a spoon or a knife to lightly swirl the cinnamon sugar into the top of the bread for that classic cinnamon roll look.
  5. Place the sheet pan in the center of the oven. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the French toast is puffed up and the edges are golden brown and slightly crisp. The cinnamon sugar should be bubbling and caramelized.
  6. While the French toast bakes, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk in a medium bowl. Start with two tablespoons of milk and add more until you reach a pourable consistency. Use a whisk or hand mixer to ensure there are no lumps.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven. While the French toast is still warm, drizzle the cream cheese glaze generously over the top. Serve immediately while warm, perhaps with a side of fresh berries or maple syrup for extra sweetness.
