Ingredients
Scale
- 6 Everything bagels, sliced in half
- 8 ounces plain cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 4 ounces smoked salmon (lox)
- 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons capers, drained
- 1/2 English cucumber, thinly sliced
- Fresh dill sprigs for garnish
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the bagel halves on a large rimmed baking sheet with the cut sides facing up. Ensure they are in a single layer so they toast evenly. If you want extra crunch, lightly brush the cut sides with a tiny bit of melted butter or olive oil.
- Place the baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are slightly crisp. Keep a close eye on them during the last two minutes, as bagel seasonings can burn quickly.
- Remove the tray from the oven. While the bagels are still warm, spread a generous layer of cream cheese over each half. Top half of the bagels with smoked salmon and the other half with cucumber slices. Scatter the red onion, capers, and fresh dill across the entire tray. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a crack of black pepper before serving directly from the pan.
- Cook Time: 20 minutes
