Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups frozen mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1 large frozen banana, sliced into chunks
- 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or Greek yogurt (use minimal liquid for thickness)
- 1 tablespoon almond butter or peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- Toppings: Fresh kiwi slices, granola, chia seeds, shredded coconut, and a drizzle of honey
Instructions
- Ensure your fruit is completely frozen before you begin. Using frozen fruit instead of ice prevents the bowl from becoming watery or diluted. Place the frozen berries and frozen banana chunks into the base of a high-speed blender or food processor. Let them sit for two minutes at room temperature to slightly soften the outer edges, which helps the blender blades catch the fruit more easily.
- Add the almond milk or Greek yogurt and the nut butter to the blender. Start blending on the lowest speed, using a tamper to push the frozen fruit down toward the blades. If you do not have a tamper, stop the blender frequently to scrape down the sides with a spatula. Add more liquid only one tablespoon at a time if the motor is struggling. Continue blending until the mixture reaches the consistency of soft-serve ice cream.
- Spoon the thick mixture into a chilled bowl and smooth out the top with the back of a spoon. Arrange your toppings in neat rows or a circular pattern for a beautiful aesthetic. Start with the heavier items like granola and fresh fruit slices, then finish with a sprinkle of seeds and a final drizzle of nut butter or honey. Serve immediately before the base begins to melt.
