Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Lean ground beef or ground turkey
- 2 tablespoons Taco seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup Water
- 8 Small flour or corn tortillas
- 1 cup Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup Shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/2 cup Diced Roma tomatoes
- 1/4 cup Sour cream
- 1 Fresh lime, cut into wedges
- Optional: Sliced jalapeños and fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Start by gathering all your ingredients to ensure a smooth 20-minute flow. Chop the lettuce, dice the tomatoes, and slice the lime into wedges. Set these aside in small bowls so they are ready for the assembly line. Preheat a medium skillet over medium-high heat while you prepare the shells.
- Add the ground meat to the hot skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until it is fully browned, which usually takes about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the pan. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the meat and pour in the water. Stir well and let it simmer for 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the meat perfectly.
- While the meat simmers, quickly warm your tortillas in a separate dry pan for 30 seconds per side or wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwave for 20 seconds. Lay the warm tortillas on a platter. Fill each with a generous scoop of the seasoned meat. Top with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lime juice and serve immediately.
- Cook Time: 20 minutes
