Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Lean ground beef (80/20 is best for flavor)
- 4 Small flour tortillas (street taco size)
- 4 Slices American cheese
- 1 cup Shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/2 White onion, finely diced
- 1/4 cup Dill pickle slices
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup Mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp Ketchup
- 1 tsp Relish
- 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roll them into loose balls. Do not overwork the meat, as this can make the burgers tough. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, relish, and garlic powder to create your signature burger sauce. Finely dice your onions and shred the lettuce so everything is ready for assembly.
- Preheat a large cast-iron skillet or flat-top griddle over medium-high heat. Place a beef ball onto the hot surface. Immediately place a flour tortilla directly on top of the beef ball. Using a heavy spatula or a burger press, press down firmly on the tortilla to flatten the beef into a very thin layer that covers the entire surface of the tortilla. Season the back of the tortilla lightly with salt if desired. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the beef is deeply browned and crispy.
- Carefully flip the taco over so the beef side is facing up. Immediately place a slice of American cheese on the hot beef. Cover the pan with a lid for 30 seconds to allow the cheese to melt perfectly. Remove the taco from the heat and repeat with the remaining ingredients. Top each taco with the prepared sauce, shredded lettuce, diced onions, and pickles. Fold in half and serve immediately while the beef is still extra crispy.
