Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup freshly brewed strong coffee or 2 shots of espresso
- 1 cup whole milk (or your favorite plant-based milk)
- 2 tablespoons high-quality chocolate syrup
- 1 tablespoon peppermint syrup (or 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract)
- Whipped cream for topping
- Crushed candy canes or chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Step 1: Brew the Coffee Base. Start by brewing a very strong cup of your favorite coffee. If you have an espresso machine, pull two shots of espresso for the most authentic taste. Pour the hot coffee or espresso into a large, pre-warmed mug. This ensures your drink stays hot while you prepare the other components.
- Step 2: Heat and Froth the Milk. Pour your milk into a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk constantly or use a handheld milk frother until the milk is steaming and develops a thick, creamy foam. Be careful not to let the milk come to a boil, as scorched milk will change the flavor of your drink. If you prefer a microwave method, heat the milk in a jar for 45 seconds, then shake vigorously with the lid on until foamy.
- Step 3: Combine and Garnish. Stir the chocolate syrup and peppermint syrup directly into the hot coffee until fully dissolved. Slowly pour the frothed milk over the coffee mixture, using a spoon to hold back the foam until the mug is nearly full, then top with the remaining foam. Add a generous swirl of whipped cream and sprinkle with crushed candy canes or chocolate shavings for that professional finish.
