Winter Cinnamon Drink Easy Cozy Holiday Drink

Winter Cinnamon Drink Easy Cozy Holiday Drink

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Diet: Vegetarian, Gluten-Free

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole milk (or oat milk for a dairy-free version)
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Optional: Whipped cream and extra cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Combine the Base Ingredients: Pour your choice of milk into a small saucepan. Add the cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, and the pinch of nutmeg. Whisk the ingredients together while the milk is still cold to help the ground cinnamon incorporate more easily.
  2. Step 2: Gently Heat and Infuse: Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring the mixture to a very gentle simmer, but do not let it reach a rolling boil. Stir occasionally to prevent a skin from forming on the milk. Let the cinnamon sticks steep in the hot milk for about 8 to 10 minutes to release their natural oils and deep woody flavor.
  3. Step 3: Sweeten and Flavor: Once the milk is fragrant and hot, whisk in the maple syrup (or honey) and the vanilla extract. Continue to stir for one more minute until the sweetener completely dissolves. Remove the saucepan from the heat and take out the cinnamon sticks.
  4. Step 4: Froth and Serve: For a coffee-shop finish, use a hand frother to create a light foam on the surface of the drink. Pour the hot liquid into two mugs. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and a light dusting of ground cinnamon. Serve immediately while steaming hot.
