Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups unsweetened cranberry juice
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/3 cup honey or pure maple syrup
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 star anise
- 1/2 cup fresh cranberries (for garnish)
- 1 orange, thinly sliced into rounds
- Optional: Fresh rosemary sprigs for a festive touch
Instructions
- Start by gathering all your ingredients. Slice the orange into thin rounds and set them aside. Measure out your cranberry juice, orange juice, and sweetener. If you prefer a clearer drink, give your fresh cranberries a quick rinse under cold water to remove any debris. Having everything ready ensures a smooth cooking process.
- Place a medium saucepan over medium heat. Pour in the cranberry juice, orange juice, and your choice of sweetener. Stir gently until the honey or maple syrup dissolves. Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise. Bring the mixture to a very gentle simmer. Do not let it reach a rolling boil, as high heat can dull the bright flavor of the juices. Let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the spices to infuse thoroughly.
- Once the drink is fragrant and hot, turn off the heat. Use a slotted spoon to remove the whole cloves and star anise if you prefer a smoother texture. Pour the liquid into heat-safe mugs or clear glass Irish coffee mugs. Drop a few fresh cranberries and an orange slice into each glass. Add a cinnamon stick or a sprig of rosemary to each serving for a beautiful, professional presentation.
