Ingredients

  • 1 cup water for the dough
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt for flavor
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar for the dough
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for the dough
  • 2 large eggs for binding
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for coating

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine water, melted butter, salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and well combined.
  • Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper.
  • Pipe the dough into 4-inch long strips directly onto the parchment paper in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry the churros for about 10 minutes, flip them halfway through, until golden brown.
  • While churros are cooking, mix 0.5 cup of sugar with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  • Once churros are done, immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.

Notes

Serve churros warm for the best texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
