Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup whole milk, warmed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Filling:

1 cup apple butter

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2-3 tbsp milk

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until combined.

Knead the Dough: Gradually add in the remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, mix together the apple butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans, if using.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

Add the Filling: Spread the apple butter mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on one side.

Roll & Cut: Starting from the opposite end of the border, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls with the kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.

Bake the Rolls: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have risen, bake them for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Prepare the Glaze: While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk for a drizzle or more sugar for a thicker glaze.

Glazing: Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours | Servings: 12 rolls
