Ingredients

4 medium-sized Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup butterscotch chips

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350F (175C).

Prepare the Apples: In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Mix well and set aside to let the flavors meld.

Make the Crisp Topping: In another bowl, combine the melted butter, remaining brown sugar, oats, flour, salt, and chopped nuts. Mix until crumbly and well combined.

Combine Ingredients: In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, arrange the apple mixture evenly across the bottom. Sprinkle the butterscotch chips on top of the apples, followed by the oat topping.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the apples are soft and the topping is golden brown.

Serve: Once cooled slightly, scoop generous portions into bowls, and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired. Enjoy your delicious Apple Butterscotch Crisp!
