Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir well.

      - In another bowl, mix together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

        - Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

          Make the Filling:

            - In a medium bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

              Roll Out the Dough:

                - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a well-floured surface into a rectangle, approximately 18 x 12 inches.

                  - Spread the softened butter over the surface of the dough, then evenly distribute the apple filling across the dough.

                    Form the Rolls:

                      - From the long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss for a clean cut.

                        - Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with a towel and allow them to rise again for about 30 minutes.

                          Bake the Rolls:

                            - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

                              - Once sliced rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

                                Make the Frosting:

                                  - While the rolls are baking, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla, and mix until well combined. Adjust consistency with milk as needed.

                                    Frost and Serve:

                                      - Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before generously drizzling the cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls. Enjoy fresh out of the oven!
