Ingredients

3 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 cup almond flour (or all-purpose flour)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons coconut oil (for frying, or more as needed)

Optional: caramel sauce or yogurt for dipping

Instructions

Prep the Apples: Wash and core the apples, then cut them into wedges (about 8 per apple). Make sure to keep the skin on for added texture and nutrition.

Season the Wedges: In a large bowl, mix the lemon juice and vanilla extract. Toss the apple wedges in this mixture, ensuring they are well coated.

Make the Coating: In another bowl, combine the almond flour, ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and salt. Mix thoroughly.

Coat the Apple Wedges: Dip each apple wedge into the almond flour mixture, coating evenly. Shake off any excess flour and place them on a plate.

Heat the Oil: In a large frying pan, heat the coconut oil over medium heat. You’ll want enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan to achieve a nice crisp.

Fry the Wedges: Once the oil is hot, carefully place the apple wedges in the pan in a single layer. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Drain and Serve: Once fried, transfer the apple fries to a paper towel-lined plate to soak up any excess oil. Serve warm with your choice of caramel sauce or yogurt for dipping.
