Ingredients

1 loaf of Italian bread (or hoagie rolls)

8 oz sliced salami

8 oz sliced pepperoni

8 oz sliced ham

8 oz provolone cheese, sliced

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 medium tomato, sliced

1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Bread: Slice the Italian bread or hoagie rolls in half lengthwise, ensuring not to cut all the way through. Place the bread cut side up on a baking sheet.

Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Italian seasoning, olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a delicious spread.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread the sauce generously on the inside of each slice of bread. Layer the salami, pepperoni, and ham evenly over the sauce. Top with sliced provolone cheese.

Add Fresh Veggies: Add shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and red onion on top of the cheese.

Wrap and Bake: Close the sandwiches and wrap the baking sheet tightly in aluminum foil. Place them in the preheated oven to bake for about 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are heated through.

Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the oven and unwrap. If desired, place them back in the oven uncovered for an additional 5 minutes for a crispier crust. Cut into individual servings and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Enjoy: Serve your delicious baked Italian grinder sandwiches warm, with your favorite side of chips or a pasta salad!
