Ingredients

1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece of ginger, grated

¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

½ cup beef broth

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes while preparing the other ingredients.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets, cooking for 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop cooking. Drain and set aside.

Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches) and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add the blanched broccoli and stir to combine.

Add Sauce: Pour in the beef broth, and mix everything together. Bring to a simmer.

Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
