1 teaspoon dried culinary lavender (crushed)

Zest of 1 lemon

For Garnish:

Additional fresh blackberries

Edible lavender flowers (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking sheet or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Prepare the Cake Batter:

      - In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

        - Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.

          - In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

            - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.

              - Gently fold in the crushed lavender and blackberries, being careful not to break the berries too much.

                Bake the Cake:

                  - Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet, spreading it into an even layer.

                    - Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

                      - Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

                        Prepare the Lavender Lemon Glaze:

                          - In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, crushed lavender, and lemon zest until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more lemon juice or powdered sugar as needed.

                            Glaze the Cake:

                              - Once the cake has completely cooled, drizzle the lavender lemon glaze over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.

                                Garnish and Serve:

                                  - Decorate the top with additional fresh blackberries and edible lavender flowers if desired. Cut into squares and serve!
