Ingredients

6 cups stale bread, cubed (French or brioche works great)

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

3/4 cup granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate toffee bits (such as Heath Bar pieces)

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)

Whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place your pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until well combined and the sugar has dissolved.

Add the stale bread cubes to the mixture, making sure they are fully submerged. Let sit for 10-15 minutes, allowing the bread to soak up the custard.

Gently fold in the chocolate toffee bits and chopped pecans into the bread mixture.

Pour the bread mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is slightly golden.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally topped with a dollop of whipped cream.
