Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter for browning
  • 3 medium ripe bananas mashed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar for deeper flavor
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda for leavening
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to enhance flavor
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts optional, for added crunch
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon for warmth

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns a golden brown color and develops a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined, then add the brown butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the sifted all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • If using, fold in the chopped walnuts gently. Pour the batter into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Check at the 50-minute mark to avoid overbaking.
  • Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Tip 1: Make sure the bananas are very ripe for the best flavor and sweetness.
Tip 2: Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
Variation: Add chocolate chips or dried fruit for a different twist.
