Ingredients

  • 2 cups oat milk preferably unsweetened
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract pure
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon optional for extra flavor
  • 1 tablespoon water for dissolving sugar
  • 1 pinch sea salt to enhance flavor
  • 1 tablespoon whipped oat cream for topping (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved, creating a brown sugar syrup. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  • Brew your coffee or espresso while the syrup is being prepared. Use approximately 1 cup of strong coffee or two shots of espresso for a more intense flavor.
  • Once the syrup is ready, remove it from heat and add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt. Stir well to combine.
  • In a separate saucepan, heat the oat milk over medium heat until warm, but do not bring it to a boil. Alternatively, froth the oat milk using a milk frother for a creamy texture.
  • In each serving glass, pour in the brewed coffee followed by the brown sugar syrup. Stir to mix thoroughly.
  • Top each glass with the warmed oat milk, pouring slowly to create a layered effect if desired. Finish with a dollop of whipped oat cream on top.
  • Serve immediately, optionally garnishing with an additional sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of brown sugar syrup on top.

Notes

Tip 1: Use freshly brewed coffee for the best flavor.
Tip 2: The brown sugar syrup can be made in larger batches and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Variation: Try adding a splash of coffee liqueur for an adult version of this latte.
