Ingredients

1 large pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh thyme, finely chopped

1 teaspoon sea salt

2 tablespoons baking soda

1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Coarse sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: If using store-bought pizza dough, let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).

Make the Baking Soda Bath: In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil. This will be used to pre-cook the pretzel bites.

Shape the Pretzel Bites: Roll the pizza dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Cut the dough into small squares, approximately 1.5 inches.

Boil the Dough: Carefully drop a few dough squares into the boiling baking soda bath. Boil for about 30 seconds on each side, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until all dough is boiled.

Prepare the Garlic Herb Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, and sea salt. Stir until well combined.

Add Egg Wash: Brush each pretzel bite with beaten egg to give them a shiny golden color.

Bake the Pretzel Bites: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Coat with Butter: Once out of the oven, immediately brush the warm pretzel bites generously with the garlic herb butter mixture. If desired, sprinkle with coarse sea salt.

Serve: Enjoy these buttery garlic herb pretzel bites warm, straight from the oven, with your favorite dipping sauce, like mustard or cheese sauce!
