Ingredients

For the Cabbage Pie:

1 medium green cabbage, shredded (about 4 cups)

1 large onion, diced

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 large eggs

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup grated aged cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped (optional for garnish)

For the Dill Cream Sauce:

1 cup sour cream

2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Sauté the cabbage: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the shredded cabbage and cook until softened, about 7-10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, ricotta cheese, and grated cheddar. Add the sautéed cabbage mixture and combine well.

Assemble the pie: Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan, pressing it evenly along the bottom and sides. Pour the cabbage and cheese mixture into the pie crust, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake the pie: Place the assembled pie in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is set. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing.

Make the dill cream sauce: In a small bowl, mix together sour cream, chopped dill, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste and refrigerate until ready to use.

Serve: Slice the cabbage pie and serve warm, drizzled with the dill cream sauce. Garnish with additional fresh dill if desired.
