Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water filtered or bottled
  • 4 tablespoons finely ground Arabic coffee or Turkish coffee
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom freshly ground for best flavor
  • 1 tablespoon sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick whole cinnamon stick for infusion
  • 3 cloves whole cloves for infusion
  • 1 cup milk optional, for creaminess
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, for added flavor
  • salt a pinch, to enhance flavor

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the filtered water and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  • Once boiling, add the finely ground Arabic coffee, ground cardamom, sugar, whole cinnamon stick, and whole cloves. Stir well to combine.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the spices and coffee to infuse fully.
  • After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and let it steep for an additional 5 minutes for a stronger flavor.
  • Strain the coffee through a fine mesh sieve or coffee filter into a serving pot to remove the grounds and spices.
  • If desired, heat the milk separately and froth it before serving, then pour over the spiced coffee in cups.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of ground cardamom or a cinnamon stick in each cup for presentation and extra flavor.

Notes

Tip 1: Use freshly ground coffee and cardamom for the best flavor.
Tip 2: This coffee can be made in larger batches and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Variation: For a mocha version, add cocoa powder or chocolate syrup to the coffee mixture before simmering.
