Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)

1 cup beef broth

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tbsp baking powder

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

3/4 cup milk

1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400F (200C).

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess fat.

Add Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Vegetables & Seasoning: Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Prepare the Biscuit Topping: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and garlic powder. Add the melted butter and milk. Stir until just combined; do not overmix. Fold in the cheddar cheese and bacon if using.

Assemble the Cobbler: Pour the beef mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough over the top, covering as much of the filling as possible.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the biscuit topping is golden brown and cooked through.

Serve: Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious Cheddar Bay Ground Beef Cobbler!
