Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)

2 tbsp oyster sauce

2 tbsp cornstarch

1/4 cup beef broth or water

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tbsp brown sugar

1/4 tsp black pepper

Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, black pepper, and brown sugar. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.

Prep the Stir-Fry: While the beef is marinating, heat a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

Cook the Beef: Once the oil is hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Let it sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, toss in the broccoli and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are just tender yet still vibrant.

Combine & Sauce: Return the beef to the pan with the vegetables. Pour in the beef broth (or water) and sesame oil, mixing everything together. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce slightly thickens.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
