Ingredients

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups milk (whole milk recommended for creaminess)

1/2 cup butter (unsalted)

Instructions

In a large bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, gradually add in the milk while stirring constantly to create a smooth mixture.

Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the melted butter and milk mixture, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.

Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, continuing to whisk until it thickens (about 5-7 minutes). It should become creamy and coat the back of a spoon.

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract for added flavor.

Serve the chocolate gravy warm over biscuits, pancakes, or your favorite desserts!
