Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast

½ cup warm milk (110°F)

½ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup chopped walnuts

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

¼ cup pure maple syrup

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

Additional ground cinnamon for sprinkling

Instructions

Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Make Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and activated yeast mixture. Mix until combined, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare Filling: In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until crumbly.

Form Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches). Spread the walnut filling evenly over the dough.

Roll and Slice: Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them with cut side up into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the dish with a clean cloth and let the sticky buns rise again for about 30 minutes.

Preheat Oven: While the buns are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare Maple Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup and an additional 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Stir over low heat until mixed; set aside.

Bake: Pour the maple sauce evenly over the risen buns. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.

Glaze: Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then flip the pan onto a large serving platter to allow the sticky sauce to drip over the buns.

Serve Warm: Slice and enjoy your warm, gooey Cinnamon Maple Walnut Sticky Buns!
