Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ground nutmeg

¼ tsp ground ginger

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 cup pure pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)

½ cup buttermilk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Streusel Topping:

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 tsp ground cinnamon

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Make the Dry Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Set aside.

Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

Add the Eggs and Pumpkin: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the pumpkin puree, buttermilk, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.

Prepare the Streusel Topping: In a small bowl, mix together ½ cup flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Pour in melted butter and mix until crumbly. Stir in nuts if desired.

Assemble the Bread: Pour the pumpkin batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the batter.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
