Crisp with a Smoky Garlic Kiss

This crisp with a smoky garlic kiss is a simple dinner recipe made with everyday ingredients. Perfect for busy days and family meals.

Ingredients

4 cups of fresh kale, stems removed and leaves torn into bite-sized pieces

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (or nutritional yeast for a vegan option)

2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare Kale: In a large bowl, add the torn kale leaves. Ensure they are cleaned and dried thoroughly to achieve maximum crispiness.

Make Garlic Oil: In a small skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the garlic turns golden and fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Remove from heat.

Season the Kale: Pour the smoky garlic oil over the kale, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Sprinkle in the smoked paprika, sea salt, black pepper, and cayenne (if using). Toss well to mix everything.

Add Cheese: Add the grated Parmesan cheese and lemon juice to the bowl. Toss again to distribute the cheese evenly among the kale leaves.

Bake the Kale: Spread the seasoned kale out evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Make sure not to overcrowd the leaves for optimal crisping.

Crisp in the Oven: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and slightly brown. Check halfway through and give the kale a good shake on the pan for even cooking.

Cool and Serve: Once done, take the baking sheet out of the oven and let the crisps cool for a few minutes. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature as a snack, or top them onto salads for an extra crunch!
