Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup water

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 large egg

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Cooking spray

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

Mix Dry Ingredients: While the mixture is heating, in a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

Combine & Cook: Once the water mixture boils, reduce heat to low, and stir in the flour mixture until a ball forms. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the dough comes together. Remove from heat.

Add Egg & Vanilla: Allow the dough to cool slightly. Once it's warm to the touch, add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated and smooth.

Shape the Bites: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Pipe Churros: Pipe small bite-sized lengths (about 1-inch long) onto parchment paper or directly into the preheated basket of the air fryer, ensuring they are spaced apart.

Air Fry: Lightly spray the churro bites with cooking spray and air fry for about 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Check halfway through and give them a shake for even cooking.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating: In a shallow bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon. Once the churro bites are done, remove them from the air fryer and immediately roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.

Serve: Enjoy your crispy air fryer churro bites warm with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping, if desired!
