Ingredients

4 cups of milk (whole or oat milk for a non-dairy version)

1 cup of heavy cream

1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup of cocoa powder

1/2 cup of granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon of sea salt

Whipped cream, for serving

Mini marshmallows, for topping

Crushed peppermint candies or chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

Combine Ingredients: In a large crockpot, add the milk, heavy cream, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and sea salt.

Mix: Stir the ingredients together until well combined. Make sure the cocoa powder and chocolate chips are fully incorporated into the milk mixture.

Cook: Cover the crockpot with the lid and set it to low heat. Allow the mixture to cook for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even melting of the chocolate.

Check Consistency: After 2 hours, check the consistency. If you prefer a thicker hot chocolate, let it cook for an additional hour on low. Stir well to mix in any settled chocolate.

Serve: Once ready, serve the hot chocolate in mugs. Top each cup with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, and a sprinkle of crushed peppermint or chocolate shavings for an added festive touch.

Store: Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of milk to regain creamy texture.

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 3 hours (including cooking) | Servings: 8 servings
