Ingredients

1 cup mascarpone cheese

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup brewed espresso (cooled)

2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)

12 ladyfinger cookies

Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting

Dark chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and creamy.

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.

In a shallow dish, mix the cooled espresso with coffee liqueur if using. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, being careful not to soak them too long.

In serving cups, layer the bottom with dipped ladyfingers (you can break them as needed to fit).

Spoon a layer of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat the layers until the cups are filled, ending with the mascarpone mixture on top.

Cover each cup with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.

Before serving, dust the tops with cocoa powder and sprinkle dark chocolate shavings for an elegant touch.
