Ingredients

1 package (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix

4 cups chocolate pudding (instant or cook-and-serve)

1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (Cool Whip)

15 Oreo cookies, crushed

1 cup gummy candy (like worms)

12 mini chocolate eggs (or any colorful Easter candy)

Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

1 cup powdered sugar

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Chocolate Cake: Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix package. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions and pour the batter into the dish. Bake as directed, then let cool completely.

Make the Chocolate Pudding: If using cook-and-serve pudding, prepare it according to package instructions. If using instant pudding, follow the steps for preparing it in a bowl with milk. Refrigerate for 5-10 minutes until set.

Prepare the Cream Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Add in the vanilla extract and the whipped topping, mixing until well combined.

Assemble the Cake: Once the chocolate cake is completely cooled, crumble it into a bowl. Layer half of the crumbled cake at the bottom of a trifle dish or serving bowl. Spread half of the chocolate pudding over the cake layer.

Add Cream Mixture: Spoon half of the whipped cream mixture over the chocolate pudding layer. Then sprinkle half of the crushed Oreo cookies on top.

Repeat Layers: Add another layer of crumbled cake, followed by the remaining chocolate pudding, whipped cream mixture, and top it with the remaining crushed Oreos.

Decorate: Finish the cake by placing gummy worms and colorful mini chocolate eggs on top to resemble an Easter egg hunt in dirt. You can also add some fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and flavor.

Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to let the layers set. Serve chilled and enjoy the whimsical flavors of this delightful Easter treat!
