Ingredients

2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Whipped cream (for serving)

Chocolate shavings or berries (for garnish)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until well combined.

Gradually add the milk to the dry ingredients while whisking to avoid lumps.

Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue to whisk constantly. Cook until the mixture begins to thicken and bubble, about 5-7 minutes.

Once thickened, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and butter until they are fully incorporated and the pudding is smooth.

Transfer the pudding to serving dishes. You can use individual cups or a large bowl, depending on your preference.

Let the pudding cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.

Before serving, top with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or berries, if desired.
