Ingredients

1 package (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix

1 cup water

1/2 cup vegetable oil

3 large eggs

1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix

2 cups milk

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed

2 cups crushed Oreo cookies (plus extra for topping)

1 cup gummy worms (optional for garnish)

Fresh mint leaves (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Bake the Cake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well blended, then pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch casserole dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.

Prepare the Pudding Layer: In another bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and milk until smooth. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.

Make the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until combined. Fold in the whipped topping until fully incorporated.

Assemble the Casserole: Once the chocolate cake has cooled, crumble it into bite-sized pieces directly in the casserole dish. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake crumbles. Next, evenly layer the chocolate pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer.

Add the Dirt Layer: Sprinkle the crushed Oreo cookies evenly over the pudding layer, ensuring complete coverage.

Garnish and Chill: If desired, place gummy worms on top for a fun touch, and add fresh mint leaves for a pop of color. Cover the casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve: Once chilled, dig into this delightful dirt cake casserole and enjoy the layers of chocolatey goodness!
