Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp almond extract (optional)

2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)

3 tbsp milk (for frosting)

1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Sprinkles (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Eggs and Extracts: Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.

Transfer to Baking Pan: Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool Down: Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Prepare the Frosting: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk if too thick or more powdered sugar if too thin.

Frost the Bars: Once the cookie bars are cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.

Add Sprinkles: Top with colorful sprinkles for a festive touch.

Slice and Serve: Cut into squares or rectangles and serve.
