Ingredients

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chili paste)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, grated

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked rice or quinoa (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Broccoli: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.

Make the Gochujang Sauce: In a small bowl, combine gochujang, soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk until smooth.

Sauté the Broccoli: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a splash of sesame oil if desired. Once hot, add the blanched broccoli and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, allowing it to absorb some flavor.

Add the Sauce: Pour the gochujang sauce over the broccoli in the skillet. Stir well to coat all the florets evenly. Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and caramelize slightly.

Serve: Remove from heat and transfer the spicy broccoli to a serving dish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top. Serve warm over a bed of cooked rice or quinoa if desired.
