Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp red food coloring

1 cup cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars using an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Add Egg and Color: Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.

Blend in Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be soft and a bit sticky.

Shape Cookies: Using a tablespoon or a cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each ball to allow for spreading.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are slightly domed. Let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Fill with Frosting: Once the cookies have cooled, spread cream cheese frosting on the flat side of one cookie and sandwich it with another cookie, creating a delicious Oreo-style treat.

Optional Dusting: For a fun presentation, dust the finished Oreos with powdered sugar before serving.
